Waiting on mail

Envelopes still in transit — expect-around dates, Mail is late, and no daily DMs. City and country only.

Waiting (More menu, or Home) is a signed-in in-transit desk — the twin of Mail day (packing) and Open mail (opening). It lists envelopes you marked mailed that have not landed, and envelopes they marked mailed that you have not received. City and country only, never a street or tracking number. Print this waiting list for a fridge sheet with ticks: no daily DMs, expect-around is a guess, Mail is late after two weeks or past the date they set.

A typical waiting sitting

  1. Open Waiting after you drop mail, or when you are tempted to send a daily “did it land?” DM.
  2. On the way to you — mark received on Open mail when the envelope is in your hands.
  3. On the way to them — give the post time. International letters are weeks, not hours.
  4. If it is two weeks out or past their expect-around, tap Mail is late. That posts on the swap thread and alerts them and hosts. Circles have no Mail is late button.
  5. Print this waiting list if you want ticks on paper. No tracking number on that sheet.
Don’t show up at a penpal’s house. Don’t post tracking or a street. Waiting is not Open mail — mark received only when the envelope is actually in your hands. One kind check-in is enough.
