Classroom: lessons, workshops, and remixes

Languages, mail skills, health and nursing maps, criminal justice, forensics, civics, science, computers, arts, money, college-ready habits, remixable workshops, and host-written courses. Members 13+ only. Family print packs (preschool through early years) are a separate 18+ tab.

Classroom is a signed-in school inside the community. Language and mail-skill courses sit next to remixable workshops (projects, science, digital citizenship, feelings, and media). Search the hub, or open Your certificates after you finish a course. Suggested next picks a course in the same subject — or German / Portuguese / Japanese if that is your site language. Italian, Dutch, and Korean sit in Languages too. Swap threads, thank-you screens, labels, and packing-this-week link to the matching skill course. Subject tabs run from preschool family packs through college-style overviews: health and nursing maps, nutrition and mental-health literacy (not treatment), criminal justice and corrections civics, fingerprint/DNA/digital-evidence ethics, earth and cells, civics and voting, computers without hacking, art and photo manners, money basics, trades, and college applications. Newer skill courses cover postage-by-country, addressing envelopes, waiting for mail, thank-yous, mail everyone can enjoy, forum etiquette, and Artists corner. Hosts can also write extra courses from Staff desk → Classroom without a code change. Each course has a five-minute pitch, a printable pack, “in the room” scale-up / scale-down notes, lessons that unlock in order, and (except family packs) a remix thread. Quizzes need 70% to pass; exams need 80%. You can retry. Finishing a course puts a certificate on your profile and a count on directory cards. Directory → Has a classroom certificate lists members who finished at least one course. Hosts can nudge learners who paused a course for a week. Home always shows Continue or a suggested course.

Good first courses

  • Spanish / French / English / German / Portuguese / Japanese / Italian / Dutch / Korean for penpals — greetings, mail words, a short note, then an exam
  • Your first week here — privacy, Introductions, same-age Messages, a buddy, and one first envelope (suggested until you finish mail)
  • Invite a friend — share your link, welcome without pressure, and how referral stamps unlock when they mail
  • Postage by country, Addressing envelopes, Waiting for the envelope, Thank-you after a swap, Write again after 30 days, ISO and your stash, or Mail everyone can enjoy — rates, readable addresses, patience, thanks, a second envelope, matches, and scent-free defaults
  • Home workouts (sketches & videos) / First-aid awareness / Body systems / Nursing map — move at home, then call for help; this is not a medical license
  • Courts and rights / Policing civics / Forensic science and DNA overview — civics and careers, not crime how-to
  • Civics, computers, arts, and money basics — overviews, not campaigns, hacks, or a shop
  • College-ready study habits / applications intro — calendars and honesty; not a diploma
  • Family (parents, 18+) — preschool shapes, weather, colors, ABC, counting stamps, story pictures, feelings, four seasons, and play post office at the kitchen table

How a workshop is built

  • Five-minute pitch — why it works and how much prep
  • Core assets — print the pack (Ctrl+P). Optional https template links only; we don’t host Google Docs or Canva files
  • In the room — scale down for extra support, scale up for a stretch
  • Community remix — post a variation in Forum → Classroom remix; hosts may feature it on the course page
Classroom is for members 13 and up. Ages 13–17 already join with a parent or guardian. Children under 13 cannot have accounts. Parents 18+ have a separate Family tab of print packs (preschool shapes, weather walks, colors, ABC, counting, stories, feelings, and seasons) to use at home with their own kids, fully supervised. Health courses are awareness only — not first-aid cards, diagnoses, or treatment. Justice and forensics courses are civics and ethics — not legal advice, not graphic, and not how to commit or hide a crime. Computer courses are habits, not hacking. Dating stays out of Classroom. Certificates here are community badges, not school or professional credentials.
